Bursitis symptoms
Sometimes gout may cause an inflammation of the bursa, which is the fluid sac all around the articulation, which is meant to cushion the surrounding tissues. Gouty bursitis usually appears in the elbow and knee and may include additional symptoms in these areas independent to the gout attack and including sustained joint pain with swelling and stiffness. This type of pain is different because it is not episodic, and if you feel these symptoms along with redness and warmness in the articulations, it might be a sign of an overlapped infection.
