During flare-ups, articulations do not only feel warm but also look different. They usually turn reddish as well, which is another indicator of inflammation, and a prevalent symptom in this type of arthritis. This changes of color in the articulation is limited to the flare-ups, and it is not a signal of infection in the joint as long as the pain and changes of color are not sustained.
