Reduced range of motion
As the disease goes by, patients often describe a reduced range of motion, not only during flare-ups but after they go back to normal as well. This is mainly caused by the uric acid crystals, which continue to be deposited in the affected articulation as the time goes by. The reduction in the normal range of motion usually is accompanied by joint deformity, which happens in advanced cases of gout, when patients do not properly follow their treatment and lifestyle changes.
