Different Types Of Rosacea

There are four subtypes of rosacea, each with its own symptoms and treatment options. (2)

  • Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR): This type of rosacea causes redness below the eyes, flushing of the cheeks, and visible blood vessels on the face. The skin may also be dry and flaky and sensitive to skincare products.
  • Papulopustular rosacea: This type of rosacea is characterized by acne-like bumps and pustules on the face. The skin may also be red and swollen and feel hot and tender.
  • Phymatous rosacea: This type of rosacea causes thickening of the skin, especially on the nose, chin, forehead, and ears. The skin may also have a bumpy texture, and the nose may become bulbous and enlarged.
  • Ocular rosacea: It affects the eyes, causing redness, dryness, itching, burning, and sensitivity to light. It may also cause blurred vision and damage to the cornea in severe cases.
