Tumors of the bone can cause necrosis by cutting off the arterial supply of the bone. The most commonly affected bones are the femoral neck, talus, and scaphoid. The patients usually report local pain and decreased range of motion of the affected joint, that is usually the hip joint, knee joint, or wrist.

Bone tumors are diagnosed by radiological examination. Treatment of benign tumors is done surgically by curettage with or without bone grafts. Benign aggressive tumors such as osteoclastoma and osteoblastoma are treated by wide surgical excision with metastatic workup. Malignant tumors are treated according to the stage of the tumor, invasion of lymph nodes, or metastasis to any other tissue.
