In babies, the flu virus also causes the above symptoms. However, your child may have other signs needing medical attention. These can include:

  • Not drinking enough fluids
  • Not waking up or interacting
  • Being unable to eat
  • Crying with no tears
  • Having difficulty urinating
  • Having a fever with a rash

It may be difficult to know the difference between the flu and the cold in babies. With both flu and cold, your child can develop a dry cough, sore throat, fever, and body aches. Symptoms of the flu are typically more serious than those of the cold. If your child has no high-grade fever or other serious symptoms, this may mean that they have an allergic cough or cold instead of flu.

If you are worried about any signs that your child might have acquired, you should contact their pediatrician.
