Bleeding and hematomas
Easy bruising and bleeding are common symptoms of liver failures. It is an established risk of liver cirrhosis the occurrence of sudden bleeding from gastrointestinal varices. Muscle hematoma (either traumatically or spontaneously) also affects patients in this condition. A healthy liver keeps in balance platelet counts (it is the site of production of coagulation factors: I, II, V, VII, IX, X, and XI), but when that is not the case, a low level of them, lead to bleeding tendency.
Let us take as an example a subdural hematoma (SDH). This is the most common traumatic brain injury, and it has a high fatality rate. It is usually caused by tears in bridging veins crossing the subdural space; when they brake, there is a blood gathering between the dura mater and the brain. This type of problems are indicators of a final phase of a liver-related disease, like cirrhosis.
