Patients usually have painless swelling of the lymph nodes. The lymph nodes taken in lymphoma feel rubbery and may fluctuate in size on palpation in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma. In Hodgkin lymphoma, lymph nodes more commonly involved are axillary, supra clavicular, cervical, para aortic, and mediastinal lymph nodes. In other cases, the Waldeyar ring and mesenteric lymph nodes may also be involved. In contrast, patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma usually have enlarged lymph nodes in the Waldeyar ring, mesenteric lymph nodes and other peripheral lymph nodes.

Endemic types of Burkitt lymphoma involve lymph nodes from the maxillary and mandibular region while sporadic types of Burkitt lymphoma causes lymphadenopathy in the abdominal lymph nodes. Extra nodal marginal zone lymphoma involves the mucosa-associated lymphatic tissue (MALT) and gastrointestinal-associated lymphatic tissue (GALT). Lymphomas from these tissues are called MALToma and are seen in the orbit, parotid gland, gastro intestinal tract, respiratory system, and breast tissue.
