Enlarged tonsils –

The tonsils are composed of lymphoid tissue and located in the pharynx. They can undergo an enlargement due to lymphocytosis. On examination, enlarged tonsils can cause obstruction leading to dysphagia and dyspnea. It can also obstruct the eustachian tube leading to a pressure imbalance of the tympanic membrane leading to decreased hearing.
