Surface and consistency of the tumor
Benign ovarian tumors are round with a smooth surface or lobulated/grooved in lobulated tumors. They are commonly cystic, except in the case of fibromas, thecomas, and Brenner tumors. On the contrary, malignant ovarian tumors have an irregular and uneven surface, and they are felt solid on palpation.
