Recurrent infections
Type 2 diabetes is a systemic disease affecting almost every part of our anatomy and body functions, including our immune system. The immunity against microorganisms and other pathogens is impaired, there’s a higher chance of infections, and it is more difficult to clear out any existing infection.
Thus, one of the signs that would lead our suspicion would be recurrent infections in the urinary tract, the gastrointestinal tract, the skin, and other parts of the body. In women, yeast infections become especially prevalent.
