Sarcoma treatment – 12Healthy.com

Most cancers have 3 types of standard treatment options that include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Osteogenic sarcomas are treated by excision of the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. If the tumor is extensive, amputation of the bone or limb is also considered.

Kaposi sarcoma is primarily treated with ART, but if the patient does not respond to ART, chemotherapy is the next option. Surgical excision/excisional biopsy is the treatment of choice for meningiomas of grade 1 and grade 2. Surgery also depends on the location and access to the tumor. If the symptoms are severe, excision of part of tumor can be done to alleviate the symptoms.

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are used in grade 3 and 4 invasive meningiomas to increase the survival rate of the patient. Treatment modalities for lymphomas include radiotherapy, chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation. Whereas leukemia such as acute leukemia is treated with chemotherapy, if the patient doesn’t respond Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is another option. Chronic leukemia is also treated by chemotherapy, but during blast crisis or acute crisis of the disease, doctors can consider hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
