Shingles Types
There are three main types of shingles: (2)
- Herpes zoster ophthalmicus: This type of shingles affects the eye and the periorbital skin (skin surrounding the eye). It can cause severe eye pain, vision loss, and other complications.
- Herpes zoster oticus: This type of shingles affects the ear and can cause ear pain, hearing loss, and other symptoms.
- Herpes zoster cutaneous: This is the most common type of shingles, which affects the skin and usually appears as a painful rash with blisters.
