General symptoms
Malignant tumors cause symptoms that are common in the majority of cancers. They include cachexia, weight loss, anorexia, malaise, and wasting of muscles distal to the tumor. Compression symptoms are produced by large tumors, causing neuropathic pain, cyanosis (venous blockage), and pallor (arterial blockage) of the tissue distal to the tumor. Ewing’s sarcoma may present with fever of unknown origin, night sweats, and rigors.
