Ascites and swelling
we call ascites to the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity, causing abdominal swelling. The liquid is protein-containing. Now, if certain amounts of such fluid accumulate in an individual’s abdomen, it becomes larger. When that happens, the person tends to lose appetite and feel short of breath, which is a very uncomfortable sensation.
This fluid is created after blood pressure in the veins that bring blood to the liver elevates. For coping with this symptom, a doctor may advise a low-sodium diet and diuretics to eliminate excess fluid.
