Laterality
In many cases, benign ovarian tumors are unilateral except for serous cystadenoma, dermoid cyst, and Brenner’s tumor. The mass may be placed centrally or laterally on one side if unilateral or may be bulging bilaterally in the lower abdomen. Malignant ovarian tumors are usually bilaterally present in both ovaries except for mucinous adenocarcinoma, which can occur unilaterally as well.
